No wall construction over the summer; tentative timeline
Written by The Fence Committee
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 14:54

The utility locate and field survey work are complete and being analyzed by Merrick to see what trees need to be removed and what utilities may need to be relocated for the masonry wall project along Peoria and Yale. Trees within the proximity of the proposed wall will be slated for removal. Residents affected will be notified by the city. There is a mitigation formula the city uses for restoring the flora once the entire project is completed. Construction of the wall will require ~5 feet of clearance on the resident side. Homeowners are encouraged to assure this clearance is provided.

City officials are starting the design for new landscaping to be incorporated along Peoria and Yale. Xeriscaping will be utilized where feasible. The final wall design and landscaping/xeriscaping plan should be completed by the end of July with the project going for bid by August. A tentative start date for construction, if all goes well, would be late Fall. This timeline is tentative, at best.

The Dam East wall committee meets every third Tuesday, 6:30 PM, at the clubhouse. Residents are welcome to attend.

Grant writer needed for Dam East Xeriscape proposal
Written by The Fence Committee
Monday, 03 May 2010 16:19
The Fence Committee is looking for individuals interested in helping create a xeriscape proposal. The masrony wall budget only allows for partial xeriscaping after the wall is completed so Dam East would like to submit a proposal to the city of Aurora for water saving grant money to increase our xeriscaping budget. A plan was submitted in 2007 so there is a template to work from. Please contact Karlton Culig for details: 303.671.2919 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Surveying begins for masonry wall
Written by The Fence Committee
Friday, 09 April 2010 12:12

The city of Aurora has teams in the neighborhood surveying the backyards of perimeter homes along Peoria and Yale for land elevation, tree removal, and utility line evaluations. Crews from the city, the ulility companies and Merrick will be in the yards at various times. A flyer was sent to each perimeter household asking for cooperation during March and April. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the city directly - 303-326-8015.

The Dam East Fence Committee meets every third Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the clubhouse. Residents are encouraged to attend these meetings to be better informed about the progress and timeline of the masonry wall construction. In addition, notices will be posted regularly to this website throughout the planning, design and construction phases.  Contact the committee at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
