Discuss this article in the forums here.Handouts found in Documents & Forms section Over 120 homeowners attended the City of Aurora meeting June 30 to hear final plans on the proposed brick wall. After a short presentation by city officials, many attendees asked questions. Fence committee members presented a slide show at the end with City Councilman Bob Fitzgerald, from Dam West, describing the contentious process and current happiness with Dam West’s brick wall. Your Fence Committee is currently holding Circle meetings at the clubhouse every Tuesday and Thursday evening, 7 PM, until the middle of August. If you did not attend the city meeting, you can still pick up handouts, hear specifics about the fence process and design plans, get your questions answered, and sign petitions. Feedback has been very positive and signature collection is off to a good start. Volunteers with petitions are also in the process of contacting homeowners to answer questions and collect signatures at a convenient time for you. To proceed with brick wall plans, the committee needs signatures for 67% of the total cost of the fence. The estimate for the brick wall assessment has been tiered across the community. Along the Yale and Peoria perimeter, the estimated assessment is $6676. For interior homes in Circles 1, 2 and 3, it is $5007, and the estimated assessment for Circle 4 and Tract K is $4340. The actual assessment will not be made until the entire project is finished. The earliest any assessment would be due is 2011 or, probably, 2012.
